“ANXIOUS” is a three-part photo series zine exploring the lack of physically associated with mental illness. Part one looks at how the environment around us can be composed to display the intangible feelings of anxiety closing in and fading away. Part two looks to display the fact that we may never be able to visually see the effects of mental illness on someone else in our lives; the change in attire shows the change in mental state. Part three puts the camera in front of the mirror. All photos were taken as self-portraits during anxiety attacks of varying severity. The hope is that the project helps to foster more conversations among friends, family, and strangers on the topic of mental health, in hopes of breaking down the stigmas of mental illness.
